Insolvency Trusteeship Agency (RITA), RITA was officially launched on June 23, 2006 and replaces what was called the Department of General Bequests in the Attorney General's Office, Ministry of Constitution and Law. It is an Agency under the Attorney General's Office in the Ministry of Constitution and Law.
RITA's history began in 1917, the year the German colonial authority passed Proclamation No. 15 of 1917 (People's area), a decree requiring the registration of births and deaths.
By locating registers under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1920 (chapter 108), the British were able to recognize the birth and death registration process established by German law after they seized Tanganyika (the interior of Tanzania) from the Germans.
It should be remembered that neither of the colonial nations required Africans to register their births or deaths.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN APPLYING FOR RITA VERIFICATION
1. Scan your original birth certificate before applying
2. Use Chrome or the Firefox browser
3. Use a legitimate email address.) Your answers will be visible in your account that you establish, not your email address, when you deliver your verification certificate.
STEPS
1. Go direct to RITA's website www.rita.go.tz
2. Press the tab labeled eRITA
3. Select Birth and Death Service
4. Click REGISTER in the REGISTRATION section and fill in all the information correctly
NOTE: Password must have at least eight characters and a combination of uppercase, lowercase and one symbol (Example: @#”!*&),
5. Log in to your email account, open the message sent from RITA then press the word “Account activation”
6. After opening an account, click SIGN IN and fill in the correct information to log in.
7. Select BIRTH SERVICES for the service of Birth (Death Services for the service of death verification)
8. Select REQUEST VERIFICATION and fill in all the information correctly
9. Attach scanned Birth/Death Certificate;
10. Request a Payment number by pressing “REQUEST CONTROL NUMBER”
11. Make the correct payment according to the invoice given to you by RITA.

13. The application code will appear in the section labeled DETAILS
NOTE
- Attach Original birth certificate/death certificate in PDF format where all the information including the entry number is legible
- Keep password of the account you opened
