Dar Es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) was established by Act of Parliament No. 22 of 1991 to cater to the greater needs of the Shipping Industry in the region. The Institute (DMI) originated from what was known as Dar Es Salaam Maritime Training Unit (DMTU), which was established on the 3rd July 1978 as a training wing of Tanzania Coastal Shipping Line (TACOSHILI) to fulfill the need of well-trained seafarers.

1. Master’s Degree (NTA Level 9) in Shipping Economics and Logistics.
Admission Requirements.
Bachelor Degree in Shipping and Logistics Management, Procurement and Logistics or Supply Chain Management, logistics and Transport Management, Cooperative, Shipping and International Trade, Maritime Transport and Nautical science, Marine Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Ship Design and Construction, Business Management or Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, Accountancy, Mathematics/Statistics, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Education, Banking, Taxation, Human Resource Management , Community Development, Insurance and Social Security, and Insurance and Risk Management with minimum GPA 2.7;
OR
Holder of Advanced Diploma in Shipping and Logistics Management, Transport, Port, Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Maritime Transport and Marine Engineering with minimum GPA 3.0;
OR
Holder of unclassified Bachelor Degree in Shipping and Logistics Management/Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management/ Bachelor Degree in Maritime Transport and Nautical science, Marine Engineering Technology, Science, Engineering, Business administration, Economics, Accountancy and Mathematics/Statistics with a distinction;
OR
Holder of professional qualification CPSP/CPA;
OR
Chief Engineer Officer or Master Mariner from International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978 as amended.
Duration of the Course:
The duration of the course is years (2) academic year organized in four semesters.
2. Master’s Degree (NTA Level 9) in Transport and Supply Chain Management.
Admission Requirements
A Holder of Bachelor Degree in Shipping and Logistics Management/ Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management/ Bachelor Degree in Maritime Transport and Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Accountancy and Mathematics/Statistics with minimum GPA of 2.7.
OR
Advanced Diploma in Shipping and Logistics Management, Transport, Port, Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Maritime Transport and Marine Engineering with minimum GPA 3.0.
OR
Unclassified Bachelor Degree in, Maritime Transport and Nautical science, Marine Engineering, Science, Engineering, Business administration, Economics, Accountancy and Mathematics, Statistics with minimum GPA of 2.7.

3. Master’s Degree (NTA Level 9) in Marine Engineering Management.

Bachelor Degree in Marine Engineering Technology, Marine and Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Naval Architecture and offshore Engineering, Ship Building Petroleum Engineering or Electronics Engineering with minimum GPA of 2.7
