We admit students based on merit, not ability to pay. AKU heavily subsidises its academic programmes and provides scholarships to 9 out of 10 of its students in East Africa.

Eligibility Criteria


To be eligible for the programme, applicants who have completed their high school in the year 2020, 2021 or 2022 or will be completing in 2023 or 2024 may apply. 


Following are the eligibility criteria for students following various systems of education:

Pakistani Hig​her Secondary System, including AKU Examination BoardCompletion of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) with an aggregate of 80%.
British SystemCompletion of at least four O-Level subjects.
American SystemOverall, 80% in Grade10.
Other indigenous systems of educationSecondary school with an aggregate of 80%; minimum 65% in English as assessed by the home institution.
International Baccalaureate Middle Years ProgrammeStudents must have achieved a total of at least 30 points and have received the IB MYP certificate.​


How to Apply

  • Candidates are required to apply online. Following documents must be uploaded with the online application.  
  • One clear photograph showing your full face (no selfie and party picture)
  • Secondary School Certificate (SSC) / O-Levels / Grade 10 mark sheet
  • Current College ID card / Enro ll ment Card / Letter from the school principal
  • B-form / National Identity Card / Passport (for overseas applicants)
  • Application fee payment receipt / acknowledgement email received from the AKU Finance Office
  • Select any three courses in order of priority out of a total of 11 courses on offer . Choose your course thoughtfully.
  • Select your option of Language and Creative Arts.
  • You will be required to upload your response on two questions as follows:
    • What benefits do you see in attending this programme at AKU? Maximum 450 words.
    • Why have you selected your three priority courses including your top priority course ? Maximum 450 words.

Application Fee


Application fee is Rs 1,000 for students in Pakistani and US$ 20 for students overseas . The Application fees is non refundable. Banking details are as follows:
